Today marks the 5th anniversary of the mass evacuation of Fort McMurray residents in response to one of the largest recorded wildfires in history. Over 88,000 residents were forced to leave their homes and relocated to safe havens.
Firefighters were assisted by their counterparts worldwide. Our Canadian Forces joined with RCMP and various provincial agencies in effort to destabilize the fire.
The fire was officially put out August 2nd, 2017.
The community in Fort McMurray displayed grace, grit and incredible fortitude during that terrible saga. To my former neighbors and friendly faces, please keep in tune with self care practices. Balancing and canceling stress with the right nutrients, exploring the phenomenal trails in the city and ultimately being kind to yourself. LOVE, Maxine.
